Thai operator TT&T plans to invest up to THB 6 billion rolling out WiMAX servies nationwide this year, the Bangkok Post reports. The company is also ready to invest in its planned THB 50 billion 3G roll out, with Japan's NTT DoCoMo as the prospective strategic partner, once the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issues 3G licences and finalises licensing fees. Prasitchai Kritsanayunyong, senior vice-president for corporate finance, said TT&T planned to invest in the WiMax network once it receives a type-3 fixed-line licence from the NTC, expected by the end of this month. Construction works for the infrastructure will be completed over the next six months and commercial services will begin by the end of this year. He said TT&T expected to use THB 2 billion of its operating revenue to finance the WiMax expansion, with the remaining 4 billion coming from leasing plans with the project's equipment suppliers.
