Turkcell to launch services in Germany on 4 April
Turkcell is expanding its operations into nine countries by initiating operations in Germany. A 100% Turkcell Group subsidiary; Turkcell Europe, headquartered in Cologne, has entered the market with the goal to target subscribers in Turkey and Germany, and is set to commence its provision of services on 4 April of this year via 1,200 stores. Turkcell Europe will focus on providing mobile services to Turkish citizens living in Germany, as well as other mobile users with close ties to Turkey.

Turkcell reaches 132,000 subscribers in Germany

Turkish mobile operator Turkcell has attracted 132,000 subscribers in less than five months since its services were launched in Germany, reports Todays Zaman. Turkcell's Deputy GM Lale Saral Develioglu said the year-end target is to have 250,000 subscribers. Turkcell Europe is cooperating with Germany's Deutsche Telekom to provide its services to Turkish expats living in Germany.

Altimo will seek the removal of Turkcell's chairman at a shareholder meeting next week, the Financial Times reports. Turkcell's major shareholders Altimo and TeliaSonera want to break the hold on Turkcell of Mehmet Emin Karamehmet, the company's founder who is one of Turkey's most powerful businessmen. His Cukurova group owns only 13 percent of Turkcell but controls it through a complex structure. Turkcell offers EUR 0.09 per minute for calls in Germany

Turkcell provided more details on its mobile services that will be available in Germany from 4 April of this year. The prepaid tariff offers a minute fee of EUR 0.09 for calls within Germany and to all Turkish mobile and fixed networks. Sending SMSs will cost EU 0.14 per message and mobile internet access cost EUR 0.50 per MB. The starter package including Sim card with EUR 7.50 call credit will cost EUR 9.95. the postpaid tariff offers the same minute fee and a SMS fee of EUR 0.12 per message without month
