Twitter adds Bloomberg News, more content to live video

Twitter is expanding its live broadcasting offer with 12 new offerings that include music concerts from Live Nation Entertainment, WNBA games, a 24-hour Bloomberg News network and a show about gadgets from the technology news website The Verge, according to Reuters citing an announcement from the company.

As part of its deal with Bloomberg, Twitter will launch a non-stop live-streaming channel with content produced exclusively for itself, The Wall Street Journal reported on 30 April.

Among other sports-related programmes that are offered are a PGA golf tournament and a weekly live Major League Baseball show. In addition, the social network expanded its deal with NFL and now offers exclusive daily programming. The offer also includes a morning show called MorningFeed on Buzz Feeed and coverage of college sports covered by a new Stadium network.

Twitter also offers content from other partners, including Viacom, The Players’ Tribune, business news startup Chedda Dick Clark Productions, Live Nation, and IMG Fashion.

The new deals are part of the company's expansion into the live video territory, especially sports live broadcasting.

The company's CFO and COO Anthony Not said it plans to air live video 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The amount of live video streamed by Twitter in the first quarter grew to over 800 hours compared with 600 hours in the previous quarter.
