Twitter lets go of chief communications officer
Twitter chief communications officer Gabriel Stricker has left the company, the New York Times reported, citing a goodbye tweet from the executive. The move is the first high-level management change under Jack Dorsey, the Twitter co-founder who stepped in on 1 July as interim CEO following the departure of Dick Costolo. Twitter said Stricker's leaving was involuntary and part of a shift in the company's communications strategy and direction. The company said it wants to bring in new leadership. No successor has yet been named.

Twitter adds political donations with Square

Twitter has teamed up with Square to enable political donations over the messaging platform. As a result, anyone in the US can make a donation directly to a US candidate through a tweet. Twitter promotes Seibert to head of consumer products

Twitter has named Jeff Seibert its new head of consumer products, Recode reported. Seibert has been running the company's developer products for over a year. Senior VP Kevin Weil will still oversee all product at the company, which includes ad products, developer products and consumer products such as Vine and Periscope but Seibert will run the core Twitter product under him, implying Weil won't be as involved as before. Twitter reported second-quarter revenues of USD 502 million, up 61 percent from the year-earlier figure and above its guidance of USD 470-485 million. Without forex effects, revenues would have increased 68 percent. Twitter starts search for next CEO

After announcing that CEO Dick Costolo was stepping down from 1 July, Twitter said it has established a Search Committee to identify CEO candidates. The committee has retained executive search company Spencer Stuart to assist in the process that will include both internal and external candidates.
