Twitter announced that it has reached over 100 million active users who use the site at least once a month. The company said that more than half of these log in to Twitter each day, and 40 percent of active users access the site merely to read tweets rather than send messages. Fifty-five percent use Twitter from their mobile phone. Twitter is expanding its reach and said it plans to launch in Hindi, Filipino, Malay and Simplified and Traditional Chinese in the coming weeks, taking it to 17 different languages. In a posting on its blog, the company also highlighted the range of people using Twitter, including world leaders, athletes, celebrities, journalists and non-profit groups.
