UAE regulator blocks 1,688 websites in 2019 over offensive content

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of the UAE has announced that up to 1,688 websites were blocked in 2019 for using offensive, racist, defamatory and obscene content or on moral or religious grounds, reported state news agency Wam. The TRA added that 542 URLs were blocked for obscene content, which accounted for around 32 percent of total sites banned during the year.
