UK govt publishes 5G services consultation

The UK Government, led by the National Infrastructure Commission, has published an 8-week consultation on the infrastructure requirements for the deployment and development of 5G in the UK. The consultation closes on 11 July. In March, the Chancellor asked the Commission to consider what the UK needs to do to become a world leader in 5G deployment, and to ensure that the UK can take early advantage of the potential applications of 5G services.

The Commission will report back to the government with its assessment and recommendations by end-2016. These will support the government's 5G strategy, which will be announced in spring 2017.
