Umniah tests 4G, prepares for launch
Jordan mobile operator Umniah announced that it completed live tests of 4G technology in cooperation with its network supplier Huawei. The company said it would introduce the service for business and consumer customers in the local market soon. The LTE technology was on display at Umniah's stand at the recent MENA ICT Forum in Jordan.

According to the Jordan Times, Zain Jordan said it received temporary approval from the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission to introduce 4G technology in certain areas. Zain Jordan also said it would soon announce the locations where the service will be introduced.

Orange Jordan said the introduction of 4G technology in the country is not necessary, as adoption of 3G is still growing and has room for further growth. The focus should be on introducing further improvements to 3G technology, said Orange Jordan CEO Jean-Francois Thomas. Orange Jordan was the first to launch 3G services in the country in 2010, followed by Zain Jordan in 2011 and Umniah in 2012.
