UPC Sunrise starts new cloud gaming platform

Swiss operator UPC Sunrise said it has developed a new cloud gaming platform in cooperation with Gamestream, a provider of cloud gaming services for the B2B market. The gaming platforms is free for Sunrise Mobile Postpaid customers for three months. It will cost CHF 9.90 per month after the trial period. The 4K cloud gaming subscription can be purchased online or at any Sunrise or UPC Shop. 

Sunrise UPC will also offer the integrated interface to Samsung Smart TV models from February. Monthly installment payments for a hardware controller will cost CHF 2.95 per month for 24 months. 

Sunrise has been active in the gaming industry for the past few years. It signed a cooperation agreement with MySports, esports.ch, Swiss Ice Hockey and gameturnier.ch two years ago to launch the eNationalleague. It operates the esports news platform esports.ch.

UPC Switzerland said it will show selected games of the ice hockey eNational League on the German-language channel MySports One from 17 December. The first Swiss eHockey championship will take place between December and April. The teams face each other in regular rounds, and the play-offs will take place in May with the best eight teams.

Swiss operator Salt has introduced a PlayStation Gaming package for new customers including a PlayStation 5 console and a two-year subscription to PlayStation Plus. The package costs CHF 639. PlayStation Plus provides access to online multiplayer and monthly games, and to the PlayStation Plus Collection, a library of PS4 games such as 'God of War', 'The Last of Us Remastered', 'Ratchet & Clank', and others.

Swisscom said it has started a distribution agreement with UPC Switzerland to show their respective sport packages. Swisscom's viewers can watch the MySports package alongside the existing new offering blue Sport, while UPC customers gain access to the blue package.
