Uruguayan communications regulator Ursec has raised over USD 65 million in a tender for spectrum in the 1.8GHz, 2.6GHz and AWS (1.7GHz to 2.1GHz) bands, reports local daily El Observador. All three of the country's mobile network operators secured spectrum, with Movistar (Telefonica) agreeing to pay USD 28.0 million for four 20-year concessions, followed by state-owned Antel, which committed to pay USD 22.4 million for another four frequency blocks, with Claro (America Movil) paying USD 15.0 million for two blocks.
