US broadband investment up USD 1.5 bln in 2017 - study

US broadband provider capital expenditures came to USD 76.3 billion in 2017, up USD 1.5 billion compared to 2016 and the first investment rise in two years, according to figures from ISP trade group USTelecom. In a statement, FCC chairman Ajit Pai welcomed the report, attributing the increased spending to the Commission's broadband policies. "Since my first day on the job, this agency has been focused on cutting through the regulatory red tape and increasing broadband investment, most importantly in rural America where the digital divide remains all too real," he said, adding that in his view
