US Cellular chooses Samsung for 5G, 4G networks

US Cellular has chosen Samsung to help with the set-up of its 5G and 4G networks. Under the deal, US Cellular will buy Samsung’s systems for the networks, including 5G New Radio (NR) technology. 

The US company, the fifth largest mobile carrier in the US, already provides 4G services. It now plans to launch its 5G network for indoor and outdoor service.

US Cellular achieves 5G mmWave data call over 5 km, 100+ Mbps

US Cellular, Qualcomm Technologies and Ericsson announced a new achievement in extended range 5G in mmWave spectrum. On the US Cellular commercial network in Janesville, Wisconsin, they made an extended-range data call over a more than 5 km distance with speeds above 100 Mbps. This offers new opportunities to use current infrastructure for broader 5G coverage, rather limiting mmWave to dense, urban areas, the companies said.

Samsung Galaxy S20 is coming to Verizon

Verizon will start selling Samsung's 5G smartphones, Galaxy S20 5G, Galaxy S20+ 5G and Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G. The Galaxy S20+ 5G and Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G are available in 128GB and 512GB memory configurations and a variety of colors, including Cloud Blue, Cosmic Black and Cosmic Gray.

Samsung starts mass production of 16GB LPDDR5 DRAM for premium smartphones

Samsung Electronics began mass-producing what it calls the industry's first 16-GB LPDDR5 mobile DRAM package for next-generation premium smartphones. Following mass production of the 12GB LPDDR5 in July 2019, the new 16GB advancement will lead the premium mobile memory market with added capacity that enables enhanced 5G and AI features including graphic-rich gaming and smart photography, the company said.
