US runs out of IPv4 addresses
The American Registry for Internet Numbers (ARIN), the nonprofit association that manages the distribution of internet number resources for its region, announced that it has issued the final IPv4 addresses in its free pool. While ARIN will continue to process IPv4 requests on its waiting list via the existing transfer market, it said organizations should be prepared to deploy IPv6 as soon as possible. The increased amount of numbers available under IPv6 should support the growing number of connected devices and emerging Internet of Things, ARIN noted.

Comcast, the US's largest broadband provider, said it was already supporting dual-stack technology across its network since last year, so it supports both IPv4 and IPv6 traffic. Already over 15 percent of its traffic runs over IPv6, and only 5 percent of customer modems use IPv4 only.
