US sees 10.7 mln iPhone devices in April on AdMob network
In the US, there were 10.7 million iPhone devices in April compared to 8.7 million Android devices, according to data from AdMob. The numbers represent the unique devices that requested at least one ad from the AdMob network in April. When non-phone devices running the iPhone OS, the iPod touch and iPad, are included, the number of unique devices jumps to 18.3 million in the US. If the iPod touch is included, the gap between platforms increases to 2 to 1 in the US. The United States had the most unique Android OS devices (75%), followed by China (8%), the UK (3%), France (2%) and Germany (2%). Internationally, the iPhone platform has significantly more unique devices than Android in the AdMob network. Globally, there were 27.4 million iPhone devices compared to 11.6 million Android devices. The ratio of iPhone OS devices to Android devices was 3.5 to 1. Around 75 percent of Android devices are in the North America, compared to 49 percent of iPhone OS devices. The top five countries with the most unique iPhone OS devices in April were the United States (44%), United Kingdom (9%), France (6%), Canada (5%) and Japan (4%). China had the second greatest number of unique Android devices in the AdMob network. The top three Android devices in China were the HTC Hero, HTC Magic and HTC Dream. There were more Android devices than iPhones in China in April. AdMob overall worldwide traffic for April increased 8 percent month over month to 18 billion.
