Vellan put in charge of Telenor's Globul

Telenor announced that Stein Erik Vellan will be named CEO of its recently acquired Bulgarian operator Globul. Vellan comes from the position of head of Mobile at Telenor Norway. He has experience in the CEE region after heading Telenor Serbia for two and a half years. After Telenor Serbia, Vellan was managing director of Uninor in India in the company's upstart face. Vellan has also been part of Telenor's Nordic management, successfully heading the Norwegian business market division.

The announcement follows the approval by the European Commission of Telenor Group's agreement with OTE to acquire Bulgarian mobile operator Globul for a total EUR 717 million on a cash- and debt-free basis. Once the transaction is finalised, expected in Q3, Vellan will be formally appointed CEO of the company.

Globul to be named Telenor in 2014

Bulgarian mobile operator Globul will soon be renamed after its owner Telenor following the example of all telecoms owned by the Norwegian telecommunications company, writes local news agency Novinite citing general manager of the company Stein-Erik Vellan. Globul CEO announces new management appointments

Globul's newly appointed CEO Stein-Erik Vellan introduced the company's newly appointed management, effective as of 2 August. The management team includes new members, namely Terje Borge as CFO, Sasa Filipovic as CCO, Atiq Ahmad as CTO, Byblow as chief marketing officer, Bjorn Rakkenes as Procurement & Logistics director, Vladimir Radojicic as appointed Executive Network Engineering director, and Torstein Pedersen as chief strategy officer.

Telenor organic sales growth improves to 2% in Q2

Telenor has maintained its outlook and announced a share buyback, after reporting improved organic sales growth and margins in the second quarter. After flat sales in Q1 on an organic basis, growth improved to 2 percent in Q2, allowing the operator to maintain its guidance for 2-4 percent organic revenue growth this year. Telenor to buy Globul for EUR 717 million

Telenor agreed to buy OTE's Bulgarian mobile unit Globul for EUR 717 million, on a cash- and debt-free basis. The transaction is expected to be finalised in Q3, pending regulatory approval.
