The Veon Group announced the appointment of Serkan Okandan as the group's CFO, effective 01 May. He worked previously as the group CFO at the Etisalat Group since 2012 and before that as CFO of Turkcell.
The previous work included experience in Ukraine and Pakistan, two of Veon's largest markets, the company noted.
Okandan will report to Veon’s co-CEOs Sergi Herrero and Kaan Terzioglu and join Veon’s Group Executive Committee. He is a graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences at Bosphorus University in Istanbul, Turkey.
The appointment follows the resignation of CFO Trond Westlie at the end of September 2019.
Etisalat confirmed that Okandan had left the company for "personal reasons", with his resignation taking effect 01 May. An acting CFO will be named in due course.
