Verizon named best LTE network in the US by RootMetrics

Verizon was named the best LTE network in the US for the first half, according to a new survey from RootMetrics. The company took the lead in each of the survey’s five categories, namely for reliability, speed, data, and delivery of calls and texts. Verizon’s network claimed an overall score of 93.9, compared to AT&T (89.9), Sprint (85.5) and T-Mobile US (82.5). Verizon’s network also earned a 91 from RootMetrics for speed, against AT&T (86.1), T-Mobile (85.8) and Sprint (72.2).

RootMetrics uses Android phones to test wireless networks by performing everday tasks such as checking email, browsing the web, using apps, making calls and sending texts. The company said its methodology aims to ensure its tests accurately reflect performance across a range of real-world situations.

T-Mobile US reaches nearly 1 Gbps in latest LTE lab test

T-Mobile US said it's achieved nearly 1 Gbps over the LTE network in a lab test in the past week. The operator reached 973 Mbps with a combination of tri-carrier aggregation, 4x4 MIMO and 256 QAM with an un-released handset to achieve what it says is the fastest speed possible on a mobile device today. Verizon Wireless tops H2 2015 RootMetrics speed tests

Verizon has topped RootMetrics' speed tests in the US in H2 2015, the fifth consecutive testing period. The carrier scored 272 RootScore awards, versus 253 in H1 2015. The new National Rootscore report's scores are based on drive tests using off-the-shelf consumer smartphones, and 6,607 indoor location tests, conducted across 232,000 miles in all 50 US states.
