Verizon sees lower margins after 4.2 mln iPhones sold

Verizon sold 4.2 million Apple iPhones in the fourth quarter, more than double the 2 million sold in Q3, CFO Fran Shammo said. Demand increased following the release of the iPhone 4S in October. Speaking at an investors conference reported by the Wall Street Journal, Shammo said he expected to report a roughly 500 basis-point decline in mobile margins as a result of iPhone sales. The operating margin in the third quarter 2011 was 29 percent.
