Verizon to cut up to 1,000 jobs at AOL-Yahoo - report

Verizon is set to cut up to 1,000 jobs at AOL and Yahoo after completing the takeover of Yahoo's internet activities, Recode reports citing people familiar with the matter. That is less than 20 percent of the combined workforce at AOL and Yahoo. The operator is expected to complete the takeover within the next week; a Yahoo shareholders meeting to give the final green light for the deal is planned for 8 June. The new company will be headed by AOL CEO Tim Armstrong, who will become the CEO of Oath, the new name for the Verizon subsidiary.
