Verizon Wireless said it had a strong finish to 2018, adding a net 1.2 million retail postpaid customers in the quarter. That included around 650,000 net phone additions, CEO Ronan Dunne told investors at the Citi 2019 Global TMT West conference.
The quarterly growth was nearly equal to postpaid retail net additions in all of the first nine months of 2018 at Verizon. Dunne said retail postpaid phone churn was a low 0.82 percent in the fourth quarter, indicating continued strong customer loyalty.
Verizon said the results show customers "are attracted to our network superiority and reliability, as well as our unique product offerings" The company said it's starting 2019 confident and "excited about the possibilities that 5G will bring".
The operator will report fourth-quarter and full-year 2018 earnings on 29 January.
