Viber hits 100 mln concurrent online users, updates app

Mobile communications platform Viber reports it has passed the milestones of 100 million concurrent online users and 360 million unique registered users. When online users are counted alongside users that are available via push notification, the company estimates that over 200 million users are reachable via the platform at any given time.

Viber has also released a new version of Viber Desktop that comes with a special focus on popular stickers. Customers can now find, select, and add stickers to their conversations with a prominently displayed sticker menu that can be docked to the side of the app. Viber Desktop has also been upgraded for better video quality and performance.

The Viber support site is now available in two more languages – Portuguese and Spanish. These languages join English and Japanese.

Viber saw its customer base jump by 200 percent in a year, The Economic Times reports. Viber extends free call promotion in Brazil

Viber announced that it will extend the promotion of free calls in Brazil for another 15 days, reports Correio do Estado. Since 25 February, the application allows users to make calls to landlines around the country without paying for the service. Messaging app Viber gained 2 million users in Brazil during the month of February, mainly due to a promotion providing free voice calls to landlines, reports Folha de Sao Paulo.
