Vip Mobile plans move into quad-play services in Serbia
Vip Mobile is planning to consolidate its operations in Serbia in order to provide fixed telephony, pay-TV, internet and mobile telephony services in a single package, reports Tanjug. According to the CEO of Vip Mobile, Dejan Turk, the company'a Austrian owners are already working on the integration of multiple services, in partnership or through acquisitions. 

Turk added that Vip Mobile has covered most of Belgrade and Pancevo with 4G and is now expanding to other cities. He admitted that Serbia is behind other countries in the region regarding 4G coverage and said that Vip Mobile is waiting for the 1800 MHz frequency tender, after which it will be able to expand 4G to rural areas of the country. Turk also said the operator has been investing over EUR 30 million per year in the network and has so far invested over EUR 850 million in Serbia.

Telenor Serbia targets 80% 4G coverage by mid-2016

The CEO of Telenor Serbia, Uwe Fredheim, has said that Serbia still lags behind the EU in 4G network coverage, but that the country is catching up rapidly, reports Tanjug. Serbia starts public bidding process for 800 MHz band

Serbia's Regulatory Telecommunications Agency (Ratel) has announced the start of the public bidding procedure to award licences in the 791-821/832-862 MHz bands for mobile services on a technology-neutral basis. Eight bidders for Telekom Srbija meet requirements

The privatization advisor for the sale of Telekom Srbija has informed the Serbian government commission that eight bids meet the requirements for the privatization of the company, Serbia's Minister of Trade and Telecommunications, Rasim Ljajic, told Tanjug. Telekom Austria interested in Telekom Srbija – report

Telekom Austria is interested in buying the 58 percent stake in Serbian operator Telekom Srbija up for sale by the Serbian government, a source familiar with the matter told Reuters. The source added that Telekom Austrija is in the process of obtaining the sale documents, ahead of a deadline for non-binding offers of 02 August. A spokesman for Telekom Austria declined to comment. Vip Mobile sees 2.5% drop in Q2 revenues to EUR 51.6 million

Serbian operator Vip Mobile ended the second quarter with revenues of EUR 51.6 million, 2.5 percent lower than the year-earlier period.
