Virtual operators grow to 34% of Dutch mobile market

Virtual mobile operators in the Netherlands counted 6.8 million customers at the end of September 2016, up 2.9 percent from six months earlier and good for a 34 percent share of the market, according to the latest research from Telecompaper. The VO market is divided roughly equally between independent MVNOs and second brands run by the mobile operators, with respectively 3.4 and 3.3 million customers. Both segments grew by 2.9 percent in the six-month period, with especially 'no-frills', low-cost brands and the fixed providers doing well. The low-cost segment remains the largest in the VO
