Vivo to launch NEX flagship smartphone in 5 markets this month

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has announced that its flagship NEX handset will roll out in Russia, India, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Taiwan by the end of this month, following its domestic launch in June. The Nex has a 6.6-inch bezel-free display with a 91.2 percent screen-to-body ratio and a pop-up selfie camera. Two versions are available, namely the vivo NEX S with an in-display fingerprint scanner and Snapdragon 845 chipset and the Vivo NEX A with a sensor on the back and Snapdragon 710.

Vivo has yet to disclose international pricing but the NEX S launched in China at a starting price of around CNY 4,500 (EUR 580) while the NEX A was available for CNY 3,998 (EUR 510).

Vivo unveils 'dual display' Nex smartphone with 10GB RAM

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo has introduced a new smartphone in its Nex range that features what it describes as the industry's first dual screen with a full-HD display on both the front and the rear of the device. The new Nex Dual Display Edition handset comes with a 6.4-inch screen on the front and a 5.5-inch one on the rear as well as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, a fingerprint scanner plus 10GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 3,500mAh battery and a headphone jack.

Vivo's new face recognition technique works at up 3 metres

Vivo is demonstrating at Mobile World Congress Shanghai a new sensing technology for facial and motion recognition on smartphones. Its Time of Flight (TOF) 3D Sensing Technology detects the time it takes emitted pulse light to return to the sensor, in order to map objects at up to three meters in front of it. This enables new opportunities in facial, gesture and motion recognition, 3D photography and AR, the smartphone maker said.

Vivo launches Y53i budget smartphone in India

Chinese manufacturer Vivo has launched its 'Y53i' smartphone with UHD and 'face access' features in India. The device includes an 8-megapixel rear camera, 5-inch display, 5-megapixel front camera, 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM which is expandable up to 256GB, The Economic Times reports. Powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor, the Vivo Y53i also includes a 2500mAh battery. The device is available on the local market in crown gold and matte black color versions for INR 7,990.
