Vodafone appoints Read CFO, Timuray to lead AMAP region
Vodafone Group has announced that Group Chief Financial Officer, Andy Halford, plans to leave the company at end-March 2014 after the conclusion of Vodafone's deal with Verizon Communications. The Board has decided to appoint Nick Read as Group Chief Financial Officer-designate, effective 01 January 2014. He will be appointed to the Vodafone Group Board on 01 April 2014.

Read will be succeeded as CEO of the Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific (AMAP) region by Serpil Timuray on 01 January 2014. Both will report to Vodafone Group Chief Executive Vittorio Colao. Timuray has been CEO of Vodafone Turkey since 2009 and also sits on the Vodacom board.

Vodafone has appointed Sir Crispin Davis as a non-executive director with effect from 28 July. He will join the audit and risk committee. Davis was CEO of Reed Eslevier from 1999 to 2009. Previous roles have included CEO of Aegis, group managing director of Guiness and chairman of StarBey Consumer Industries. Vodafone also announced that supervisory board members Alan Jebson and Anthony Watson will not seek re-election at the July AGM.

Vodafone Ghana launches new visual brand identity

Vodafone Ghana has launched a new visual brand identity across the country under the slogan 'Power of Red', developed by the Vodafone Group's brand team and by the strategy and design consultancy 'The Brand Union'. Power of Red uses the bright red synonymous with Vodafone to convey confident energy and progression. Central to the new identity is a rhombus shape that anchors to the Vodafone roundel, positioning Vodafone as a catalyst for progress.

Vodafone heeft bekend gemaakt dat financieel directeur Andy Halford volgend voorjaar het bedrijf zal verlaten. Vodafone Italia confirms Bisio as new CEO

Vodafone Italia has named Aldo Bisio as its new CEO, succeeding Paulo Bertoluzzo, who began a new role as chief commercial and operations officer at Vodafone Group on 1 October. Bisio, currently CEO of Ariston Thermo, will take over from Bertoluzzo on 1 January 2014, with the latter continuing as CEO until the end of the year. Vodafone Malta appoints Nelson as CEO

Vodafone Malta appointed Amanda Nelson as CEO. Nelson, who replaces Balesh Sharma, comes with 15 years of experience with Vodafone Group. She joined the company in 1998 working in the central finance team during the period when Vodafone was expanding globally. Since then she has held various senior finance positions in New Zealand, Japan, UK and the Netherlands. Sharma will stay on the BoD of Vodafone Malta, initially as a non-executive chairman. Vodafone agrees Verizon Wireless sale for USD 130 bln

Vodafone has reached an agreement to sell its 45 percent stake in Verizon Wireless to its US partner Verizon Communications, giving the latter 100 percent control of the mobile operator. Verizon will pay a total USD 130 billion, including USD 58.9 billion in cash, USD 60.2 billion in Verizon shares, USD 5.0 billion in the form of Verizon loan notes, Verizon's 23 percent stake in Vodafone Italia (valued at USD 3.5 billion), and Verizon's assumption of USD 2.5 billion in Vodafone debt related to the US group.

Vodafone merges Europe divisions, creates CCO role

Vodafone is streamlining its management structure in Europe, while also creating a new group commercial officer role. The existing divisions of Northern & Central Europe and Southern Europe will be merged to create one Europe region. Turkey will be removed from the European division and report within the Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific region, based on the country's emerging market characteristics.
