Vodafone details taxes paid in sustainability report

Vodafone has provided a breakdown of its tax payments for the first time in its annual Sustainability Report. This includes a detailed overview of the group's total contribution to public finances, including direct and indirect cash taxes paid and non-tax government revenue contributions such as spectrum fees, aggregated on a country-by-country basis. According to the figures for the most recent year to March 2012, the company paid in total GBP 11.1 billion in tax and government charges. Following recent criticism in the UK that it was not paying enough corporate income tax, the company noted the many other types of tax it pays, such as on employment and spectrum, as well as its active role in helping shape tax policy.
