Vodafone Greece to launch hybrid 4G-VDSL broadband service

Vodafone Greece announced the start of tests of a fixed-mobile broadband service using its 4G network and VDSL bonding. Vodafone said the technology means it can offer customers more than twice the current speeds on VDSL, while also ensuring a constant, reliable connection. The new service is being piloted and will be available in the near future, Vodafone said, adding this will be the first company in the Vodafone group to launch the service. The operator announced last year a trial of the same technology in Spain with Huawei. 

Vodafone Greece has over half a million fixed broadband customers, after acquiring the ISP Hellas Online last year. The company recently rebranded the operation as Vodafone Home and offers a range of broadband and double-play plans at up to 25 and 50 Mbps.

Vodafone Greece service revenues fall 1.3% in Q3

The weak economic climate in Greece led to a further deterioration in Vodafone's revenue growth in the latest quarter to December. Vodafone extends option on Forthnet shares

Vodafone Greece has extended its option to buy shares in broadband and pay-TV provider Forthnet from Wind Hellas. Vodafone took in June 2014 a one-year option on a 13.25 percent stake in Forthnet held by Wind Hellas. Vodafone Greece fell back to negative organic service revenue growth in the fiscal second quarter to September, down 0.3 percent year-on-year.
