
Vodafone Group FY revenue up 1.2% to GBP 46.4 billion

Vodafone has reported group revenue of GBP 46.4 billion for the year to 31 March, up 1.2 percent year-on-year, with full-year organic service revenue up 1.5 percent. Group EBITDA for the year was down 1.3 percent to GBP 14.5 billion, with an EBITDA margin of 31.2 percent. Adjusted operating profit was up 2.5 percent on an organic basis to GBP 11.5 billion. The group registered a gain on disposal of investments of GBP 3.5 billion and impairment charges of GBP 4 billion for the year, with free cash flow of GBP 6.1 billion after capex of GBP 6.4 billion. Group service revenue for the year was GBP 42.89 billion, up 0.3 percent, with Europe accounting for GBP 29.91 billion, down 0.6 percent, and Africa, Middle East and Asia-Pacific (AMAP) for GBP 12.75 billion, up 3.7 percent. Service revenue growth was driven by a focus on data (+22.2%), enterprise (+.22%) and emerging markets (India +19.5%, Vodacom +7.1% and Turkey +25.1%). Smartphone penetration in Europe reached 26.9 percent, up 8.3 percentage points year-on-year. For 2012/2013, Vodafone Group expects operating profit to be in the range of GBP 11.1 billion-GBP 11.9 billion, reflecting the weaker Euro offset by continued profit growth from Verizon Wireless. Group mobile customers stood at 404.69 million at end-March, up by a net 6.60 million from 398.13 million at start-January, with pre-paid users accounting for 80.5 percent. The mobile customer base in Europe fell by a net 1.41 million in Q4 to reach a total of 148.49 million (pre-paid 60.6%); with the AMAP mobile customer base growing by 8 million net additions in the quarter to reach 256.20 million (pre-paid 92.4%).
