Vodafone Group has significantly improved its customer mix, relating to the balance of pre-paid and post-paid customers, in a number of key markets in West Europe. This improvement is connected largely to the launch of its Vodafone live! portal in those markets, Mobile Communications reported. In the four West European markets where Vodafone is a majority shareholder - the UK, Netherlands, Germany and Greece - its active pre-paid customer base fell as a proportion of total subscribers during the six months to 31 March 2003. The highest decline in its pre-paid customer base was in Greece, where non-contract customers fell 8% to 64% of total Vodafone customers in the country on 01 April 2003, from 72% on 01 October 2002. In the Netherlands, pre-paid customers made up 56% of the total, down from 62% over the same period; while Vodafone's German pre-paid customer base fell 3% to 52% of the total. In the UK, pre-paid users accounted for 57% of all Vodafone customers at end-March 2003, from 59% previously.
