
Vodafone India leads in December net adds

India ended December 2013 with 694.83 million GSM mobile subscribers, up by 6.80 million in the month. Vodafone India led in net adds, reporting 2.37 million new customers to bring its total to 160.41. Vodafone was followed by Bharti Airtel with 1.81 million net adds, ending the month with 198.41 million customers. Aircel gained 1.63 million subscribers, bringing its total to 66.91 million, and Telewings reported 410,827 net adds for the month, ending December with a total of 32.78 million subscribers. Videocon signed-up 299,169 new customers to bring its total to 3.97 million while Idea Cellular attracted 271,171 new subscribers, ending the month with 128.69 million. State-owned operator MTNL reported net adds of 10,907 and a total customer base of 3.46 million in December, while BSNL and Loop Telecom did not report any net adds for December. BSNL serves 97.17 million GSM subscribers and Loop Telecom has 3.03 million subscribers.
