Vodafone Group executive committee member and Turkish national Serpil Timuray was appointed as the CEO of Vodafone Group Europe Region, effective from 1 October. She replaces Ahmed Essam in the Europe role, while Essam takes over Timuray's previous position of chief commercial operations and strategy officer.
In her new role, Timuray will continue to be a member of the Group Executive Committee and work in the group's headquarters in London.
Vodafone Turkey was also included in the European Region concomitant with this appointment. The Europe group includes all of Vodafone's smaller European markets, outside the UK, Italy, Germany and Spain.
Most recently, Timuray acted as Chief Commercial Operations and Strategy Officer, and previously she served as head of the AMAP region. Timuray has been a member of the Group Executive Committee since January 2014.
