Vodafone Netherlands, Eurofiber partner on business fibre

Vodafone Netherlands is expanding its cooperation with Eurofiber in a new ten-year agreement. Eurofiber will become the preferred partner for delivering fibre connections to Vodafone business customers. The two operators already work together on deploying fibre for Vodafone's mobile network and business services. Eurofiber said the deal should help the company accelerate its roll-out of fibre-to-the-office. While the companies considered a joint venture, they decided in the end on a partnership in order to allow for cooperation with other parties. Eurofiber will maintain its open business model, and Vodafone will be able to work with other providers in business locations that are already connected. According to Telecompaper estimates, Eurofiber has connected around 3,000 sites and has a 10 percent market share. A Vodafone spokesman said the company is targeting an increase in business sales to over EUR 100 million per year within five years, a four-fold increase from the current level. Vodafone Enterprise provides fixed and mobile voice and data services, as well as extra services such as payments traffic. Vodafone estimates the fibre penetration among SMEs is only around 6 percent, and the company expects strong growth in fixed-mobile services and cloud computing. While the company is not ruling out an entry on the FTTH market, no plans have been made yet.
