Vodafone Netherlands mobile data strategy focus on 2.5 and 3G
In contrast to KPN's move to participate in the Dutch WLAN company HupHop, or the field test of T-Mobile with four restaurants, Vodafone will not seek cooperation with, or buy stock from WLAN providers, according to a spokesperson of Vodafone Netherlands. Vodafone sees WLAN as a complimentary access method and it will not provide a WLAN service as a separate service. Its main access technologies are 2.5 and 3G. Vodafone is actively rolling out its 3G network and has 3G sites in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Den Haag, Rotterdam, and Maastricht. It did not reveal a date for the launch of 3G services. Vodafone Netherlands is satisfied with the current number of Live! users and interest for the Mobile Connect Card.
