Vodafone Portugal has already entered in the price war recently launched by the country’s mobile operators and is now 'negotiating with the virtual operators', says António Carrapatoso, head of the Portuguese subsidiary of the UK mobile phone giant. In an interview with Portuguese business weekly 'Semanário Económico', Carrapatoso pointed out that the Portuguese market is very small and, for that reason, there is no space for many mobile operators. The president of Vodafone Portugal underlined that if 'there are entities interested in becoming virtual mobile phone operators they should contact the existing operators' adding that he is personally interested in talking with interested parties. Vodafone Portugal recently distributed 543,040 shares for its collaborators as part of the AllShares program of incentives, aimed at recognising the contribution of employees to the success of the company. Each effective collaborator received, as of April 1 of this year, 320 shares which will be available until 1 July 2007, if the collaborator remains with Vodafone. Last year, the collaborators of Vodafone Portugal received a total of 593,600 shares.
