Vodafone Spain unveils low-cost 'Vodafone Bit' mobile and fibre offering
Vodafone Spain has announced the launch of a new low-cost offering dubbed ‘Vodafone Bit’ that's designed to help the operator better compete with similar plans from rivals Masmovil and Telefonica’s new O2 Spain brand. Like O2’s launch plan, Vodafone Bit is an online offering with a mobile only and convergent (fibre plus mobile) tariff. The mobile plan comes with 25GB of data plus unlimited national calls and SMS for EUR 25 a month while the convergent offer includes the same mobile service plus symmetric fibre broadband at 100Mbps and a landline with unlimited national calls for EUR 50 a month. 

The mobile plan has no permanence clause but the convergent tariff comes with a 12-month contract. Vodafone Bit also includes EU roaming and, by way of a promotion, free US roaming until 31 March 2019.

The launch comes shortly after Vodafone filed another complaint with markets and communications regulator CNMC about Telefonica, accusing the former incumbent of using its dominance in the fibre market to promote its new O2 brand.

Vodafone Spain extends 5G availability to all its prepay users

Vodafone Spain has announced that 5G services will be shortly be made available to users of its prepay plans following the activation of its fifth generation network in 15 launch cities on 15 June. Starting on 08 July, the 5G service will be automatically enabled for all Yuser, Mega Yuser, Super Yuser, Mi Pais and Vodafone Bit subscribers in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Malaga, Zaragoza, Bilbao, Vitoria, San Sebastian, La Coruna, Vigo, Gijon, Pamplona, Logrono and Santander at no extra cost.

Spain's Amena unveils sub-EUR 40 convergent fibre plan

Spanish MVNO Amena, an Orange Spain brand, has become the latest operator to launch a low-cost convergent tariff to better compete with similar plans from rivals Masmovil, Digi and the new O2 Spain and Vodafone Bit offerings of Telefonica and Vodafone Spain. Vodafone Spain gives away 1-year Prime membership for Xmas

Vodafone Spain said all new and existing customers with a Vodafone One, Vodafone One Family, + Lineas M and L or Red S and above plan will be offered a 1-year Amazon Prime subscription for free in a festive offer. Masmovil only mobile operator to grow revenues in contracting Spanish market in Q3

The Spanish mobile operators generated combined service revenues of EUR 2.5 billion in the third quarter, down 4.0 percent from a year earlier but 0.6 percent higher on a quarterly basis, according to the latest figures from Telecompaper. Vodafone launches exclusive Motorola One sale in Spain

Vodafone Spain said it will be offering the new Motorola One smartphone on an exclusive basis in combination with a variety of its plans. The operator said the handset will be available at a discounted rate of EUR 216 on Black Friday and for EUR 9 a month and no downpayment on 24-month One or Red S, M or L contracts. Vodafone Spain has announced that all customers signed up to its TV service will be able to access all 7 seasons of Game of Thrones for free on 23, 24 and 25 of November. Vodafone Spain finalises HFC upgrade to Docsis 3.1

Vodafone Spain announced in its third-quarter results that it has completed the process to upgrading its HFC cable network with Docsis 3.1 technology. Lowi to revamp offers, double fibre speed to 100Mbps

Vodafone Spain's low-cost brand Lowi is set to double the speed of its fibre connection from 50Mbps to 100Mbps at no extra charge for both new and existing customers starting 01 December, reports ADSL Zone. The increased speed will follow a tariff revamp launched on 01 November with more data and lower monthly fees for all, said the report. Lowi extends convergent promo another month

Vodafone Spain's low-cost brand Lowi has again extended its promotion offering a 50 Mbps fibre connection plus a mobile plan including unlimited domestic calls and 20 GB of data for EUR 34.95 per month. O2 Spain commits to paying back EUR 220 to clients in 'non-competitive' areas

Telefonica's new O2 brand in Spain has committed to compensating customers who subscribe to its fibre offer but live in "non-competitive" parts of the country a maximum of EUR 220. Vodafone Spain to complete fibre speed upgrade by October

Vodafone Spain will finally complete its promise to automatically double the speed of its fibre-optic plans in October, around 6 months after announcing the upgrade, reports Xataka Movil.
