Vodafone UK plans 3G launch before Christmas
Vodafone UK is planning to launch 3G services in October or November of this year to have the Christmas season included. The 3G services will only be introduced when Vodafone is convinced it worls properly, the Financial Times quotes chief executive sir Christopher Gent. "Wap was a great disappointment and early GPRS did not work very well and failed to excite the public imagination," he said. "When we launch 3G, we want it to work properly." He said Vodafone was in discussions with five or six handset manufacturers over supply contracts for 3G phones but said that no final purchase decision had been made.
