The fibre optic network in the Dutch municipality of Nuenen is part owned by building company VolkerWessels. VolkerWessels, who build the network, has gained a 5 percent share in the network, reports Dutch daily de Telegraaf. The inhabitants of the municipality thought they fully owned the network, but this turned out to be different as the owners asked VolkerWessels to participate last summer to prevent a bankruptcy after inevestors stepped out of the project. Since the government funded the roll-out of the network, parties are calling for a clarification.
