
Vumatel to invest ZAR 3 bln in fibre-to-the-home

South Africa's Vumatel will invest SAR 3 billion in fibre networks in the next two to three years, which will see many areas in Cape Town getting fibre-to-the-home services. Vumatel CEO Niel Schoeman told MyBroadband that they have already passed 33,000 homes with their FTTH service, and plan to grow this number to over 100,000 in 2016. Schoeman said they have started their construction in Tamboerksloof and Gardens in Cape Town. The areas which will get Vumatel fibre access in 2016 include: Tamboerskloof; Gardens; Oranjezicht; Higgovale; Vredehoek; and Devil's Peak
