Wind Hellas to miss over EUR 40 mln of debt payments

Greek operator Wind Hellas Wind Hellas will miss debt payments of EUR 40.5 million due in the next two weeks, Naguib Sawiris, Wind Hellas' owner, said in an interview with Bloomberg. Wind Hellas has recently requested creditors not to push it into default as it seeks to restructure its debt for the second time in seven months. "I'm willing to put more cash into the company depending on the outcome of negotiations with creditors," Sawiris said. Wind Hellas faces a EUR 17.5 million payment today on its EUR 250 million revolving-credit facility maturing June 2012, according to Standard & Poor's. Additionally, on 15 July, the Greek operator should make a EUR 23 million coupon payment on EUR 1.2 billion of floating-rate notes due October 2012.
