Windows Phone Marketplace averaging 100 new apps a day
The Windows Phone Marketplace is adding on average around 100 new apps each day. It currently offers over 9,000 apps and games and has attracted more than 32,000 registered developers. The Windows Phone Developer Tools have been downloaded more than one million times, according to a blog posting by Todd Brix, head of Microsoft's app store. Brix provided an update on progress with Windows Phone 7 apps, including feedback on the usefulness of app trials, tips for making better use of ads in apps and the new Global Publisher Program to facilitate publication of apps in different parts of the world. In addition Microsoft has updated some of its policies for app developers, including those based on open-source licences, dropping the requirement for contact info in apps and increasing the number of certifications provided for free apps.
