Xiaomi in talks to raise USD 1.5 bln in new funding - report
Xiaomi is in talks to raise USD 1.5 billion in new funding, the Financial Times reported, saying the capital would put the company's valuation at over USD 40 billion. The company is in talks with a number of investors including Russia's DST, but negotiations have not yet been finalised, sources familiar with the matter said. Xiaomi declined to comment on its fundraising plans.

Xiaomi to develop 4G mobile phone chips with Datang - report

Datang Telecom Technology, via its subsidiary Leadcore Technology, has signed a contract with Beijing Pine Cone Electronics. The contract covers the SDR1860 platform technology transfer, licensing the technology to Beijing Pine Cone Electronics for CNY 103 million, SinoCast reports. Datang and Xiaomi have also agreed to joitly design and develop 4G multiple mode SOC chips. Beijing Pine Cone Electronics is reportedly controlled by Xiaomi.

Xiaomi revenues soared 84% to CNY 3.5 bln in 2013

Xiaomi revenues jumped 84 percent to CNY 3.46 billion in 2103 from 1.88 billion the year before, with the net profit nearly doubling to CNY 27 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a confidential document. Xiaomi to launch Mi4 Youth edition in November

In a Weibo post, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has confirmed that the Chinese smartphone manufacturer will release a youth version of the Xiaomi Mi4. The device will be available for CNY 1,799, GizChina reports. The Xiaomi Mi4 Youth model will feature 2GB of RAM, 4G LTE, and a Snapdragon 801 processor. Spotify's Sung to lead Xiaomi product development - report

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has appointed Donovan Sung to head its international product development team in a role based out of Beijing, TechCrunch reports, without citing sources. On his Facebook account, Sung confirmed he left Spotify to start "a new career chapter". Most recently, Sung was Spotify's first product manager in the US. Xiaomi to inject USD 1 bln in video content for smart TVs

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has announced on its official Weibo account that it plans to invest USD 1 billion in online video content to support its smart television ecosystem, TechCrunch repots. The investment will be overseen by Xiaomi executives Chen Tong and Wang Chuan. Tong is the former editor-in-chief of news portal Sina.com, who joined Xiaomi in October, while Chuan is director of Xiaomi's smart TV products (Mi TV and Mi Box).
