Xiaomi sells 100,000 MI3 phones in less than 90 seconds
Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has sold out 100,000 MI3 smartphones in one minute and twenty-six seconds. On its Twitter feed, the company also announced that 3,000 MITVs were sold in one minute and fifty-eight seconds. Xiaomi announced the MI3 smartphone and the smart TV in September and launched the online sale for the first batches on 15 October.

Xiaomi sells first batch of WCDMA Hongmi phones

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi sold out its first batch of WCDMA Hongmi (Red Rice) phones in just over four minutes, CNET reports. The WCDMA version of the Hongmi phone is compatible with China Unicom's network and Xiaomi offered the first 100,000 units through its website on 5 November. The smartphone is priced at CNY 799. The company has yet to issue a WCDMA version of its Mi-3 smartphone which went on sale in October.

Xiaomi launches e-reader app, sells e-books

Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has introduced an e-reader app to its cusomters and will also sell e-book contents. The company will not operate its own proprietary book store but will aggregate and sell content from over thirty content providers, Tech In Asia writes citing a QQ Tech report. Xiaomi allowed to buy out Xiaomi Taiwan

Taiwan has approved a buyout proposal from Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi. Under the proposal, Xiaomi H.K., a Hong Kong subsidiary of Xiaomi, will buy all Xiaomi Taiwan shares from local investors for TWD 3.76 million. China's Xiaomi selects Oberthur Pearl for Mi3 phone

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has selected Oberthur Technologies' Pearl, its NFC embedded Secure Element (eSE) to support contactless mobile payment in the new Xiaomi Mi3 phone. Pearl is the advanced multi-application embedded Secure Element and claims to offer the largest memory. It is certified by Visa, MasterCard and Google and under certification by China Union Pay. Chinese smartphone maker Xiaomi has introduced its latest smartphone, the Mi3, which will be offered in two editions, and an Android smart TV.
