Xiaomi to launch Mi Mix 3 smartphone with 5G in May

Xiaomi has unveiled at MWC in Barcelona its first 5G smartphone. The Mi Mix 3 5G is expected to be available in May. In addition, the company announced European pricing and launch details for its new Mi 9 flagship smartphone, unveiled last week in China. 

Xiaomi previewed the 5G phone already in December with China Mobile and launched the LTE version of the Mi Mix 3 in January. The company said it's been working with other operators to prepare for 5G as well, such as 3, Sunrise, TIM and Vodafone, and showed the Mi Mix 3 running on 5G already with Orange Spain's network in Barcelona. 

The device will be one of the first to adopt Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 chip and X50 5G modem, supporting gigabit speeds on sub 6 GHz spectrum. Xiaomi said it's also developed an advanced hybrid cooling system, using Rogers HeatSORB thermal material, to support applications requiring high levels of device performance during extended periods of time, such as multi-player gaming.

Mi 9 available from 28 February

In addition, the company confirmed that the Mi 9, just launched in China, will be available in Europe from 28 February. The smartphone will cost EUR 449 for the 6GB+64GB version and from EUR 499 for 6GB+128GB. It is available in Piano Black, Ocean Blue and Lavender Violet.

Xiaomi revenue growth slows in Q2 as smartphone shipments flat

Xiaomi reported a further slowdown in sales growth in the second quarter, hurt by the depressed smartphone market and weaker Chinese economy. Smartphone shipments were little changed year-on-year at 32.1 million units, while higher prices and growth in other devices and services helped total revenues at the company grow 14.5 percent.

Xiaomi launches affordable Mi CC9 series smartphones with high-end camera, large battery

Xiaomi has announced a new range of affordable smartphones with high-end cameras, the Mi CC series. The Mi CC9 offers a similar body and high-end camera configuration to its flagship Mi 9, with 32MP front camera and 48MP rear camera, as well as an in-screen fingerprint sensor and a large 4,030mAh battery. The phone will sell from CNY 1,799, along with the lower-spec Mi CC99e from CNY 1,299 and the high-end Mi CC9 Meitu edition for CNY 2,599.

Xiaomi debuts Mi 9T mid-range smartphone in Spain

Xiaomi has announced that the latest smartphone in its Mi 9 family will be launched in Spain on 17 June. The mid-range Mi 9T will retail at starting price of EUR 329 and features a 6.39-inch AMOLED full screen display, a 20MP pop-up selfie camera and a rear 48MP triple camera setup. It's powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 730 processor, with Xiaomi claiming an increased 35 percent CPU performance and increased 10 percent GPU performance plus twice the AI performance and extreme power efficiency.

Xiaomi to start selling Mi Mix 3 5G in Italy and Spain this month

Xiaomi has announced the imminent launch of its first 5G smartphone in Italy and Spain later this month. The Mi Mix 3 5G, unveiled at MWC in Barcelona earlier this year, will be available starting 23 May at a price of EUR 599 in Spain and EUR 699 in Italy for the 6GB+64GB version in sapphire blue. The device uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 chip and X50 5G modem, supporting gigabit speeds on sub 6 GHz spectrum. It also comes with a 3,800mAh battery, a 6.39-inch display, 12MP dual cameras and dual front-facing

ZTE unveils Axon 10 Pro 5G smartphone in China

ZTE has introduced its first 5G smartphone in China, the ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G. ZTE has also demonstrated the 5G flagship smartphone on live with the 5G network. The ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G will also be available soon in Finland and Austria.

Xiaomi ships over 1 mln Mi 9 phones in a month, Redmi Note 7 passes 4 mln units

Xiaomi announced that it's shipped over 1 million units of its flagship Mi 9 smartphone as of 31 March, just over a month after its launch. Furthermore, the Redmi Note 7, its smartphone with a 48 megapixel camera launched in January, passed 4 million units as of 29 March, the company announced on Twitter.

Xiaomi launches Redmi 7 in Spain from EUR 139

Xiaomi has announced the imminent launch of its mid-range Redmi 7 smartphone in Spain just a few weeks after the global versions of the Redmi Note 7 and Note 7 Pro were unveiled in the country. The Redmi 7 comes in three versions with different internal storage capacities. The 2GB+16GB version will be available from 15 April for EUR 139, the 3GB+32GB version will be launched on 04 April for EUR 159, while the 4GB+64GB model can be acquired starting 26 April for EUR 179.

Xiaomi grows FY revenues 53% on expansion abroad, new products

Xiaomi announced revenues of CNY 174.9 billion for 2018, up 52.6 percent. The Chinese company benefited from its expansion abroad, with international revenues more than doubling to CNY 70 billion, as well as expansion into new product categories and services, such as smart TVs and speakers. Net profit for the year totaled CNY 13.5 billion, compared to a loss of CNY 43.9 billion in 2017, and adjusted net profit grew 59.5 percent to CNY 8.6 billion.

Following the 5G cooperation agreement signed at MWC 2018, Telecom Italia (TIM) and Qualcomm announced that they will be demonstrating a multimedia service based on 5G NR connectivity at this year's event. The service is an advanced second-screen concept developed for video and live streaming content in 5G, with five high resolution streams in multi-view format.
