Dutch cable operator Ziggo has started testing Docsis 3.1 equipment in its lab, but is still keeping quiet on when it will roll out the faster cable network technology, reports Tweakers.

Ziggo confirmed earlier this year that it plans to upgrade to Docsis 3.1, which supports speeds of 1 Gbps. However, a spokesman was unable to provide more details on the timing of the roll-out.

The other Dutch cable operator Delta has said it plans to start with Docsis 3.1 in 2018, and a handful of small fibre operators in the Netherlands already offer gigabit broadband speeds. Ziggo's current top broadband speed is 400 Mbps.
