ZTE, China Mobile complete pre-5G MIMO base station test
ZTE has successfully completed pre-commercial field testing of pre5G 3D/Massive MIMO (Multiple-Input Multiple-Output) base stations in partnership with China Mobile. Using ZTE's latest 64-port/128 antenna 3D/Massive MIMO base station, the test shows coverage enhancement for tall buildings, with improvement for indoor reception. The new ZTE service is enabled by the company's vector processor SOC chipset. According to the simulation, the throughput can be 4-6 times higher than currently available via existing technologies, ZTE said. 3D/Massive MIMO supports China Mobile's mainstream 4G frequency bands, and is also compatible with existing commercial terminals.

ZTE launches pre5G base station and baseband unit

ZTE has announced the launch of a pre5G base station integrating the baseband unit (BBU) and remote radio unit (RRU). The company said its new base station serves to significantly enhance spectral efficiency by using massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology and has already met pre-commercial conditions. ZTE helps China Telecom roll out eMBMS platform

ZTE was contracted by China Telecom to roll out the country's first evolved multiple broadcast multiple service (eMBMS) system running on a hybrid LTE network. China Telecom's eMBMS service, launched in the eastern Chinese city of Wuxi, is powered by ZTE's IP RAN (radio access network) technology, enabling smooth mobile video services and high-quality voice calls to be delivered simultaneously. The IP RAN multicast service attained millisecond-level reliability standards.
