ZTE hits record single-carrier signal transmission speeds

ZTE has announced what it describes as a new world record in 400G single-carrier signal transmission. In a statement, the company announced the successful transmission of single-carrier PM-256QAM signals at 34-Gbaud over a distance of 80km SSMF, adding that the trial confirmed that constellation-shaping technology can greatly enhance 400G 256QAM transport performance. The experiment was recognised as a ‘Highly Scored Paper’ at the National Fibre Optic Engineers Conference (OFC), said ZTE.

The demonstration was carried out by the company’s Optics Labs in North America, which has proposed a number of key technologies for 100G and beyond 100G devices and has become a recognised “Acceleration Engine” in developing global high-speed optical communications transport technologies.

ZTE sees 5G equipment ready for deployment in Q3 2018

ZTE said it expects to have 5G network equipment ready for commercial pre-deployment starting from Q3 2018. At the Mobile World Congress, ZTE unveiled a series of 5G products, promising operators first-mover advantages in their transition to next-generation services. ZTE expects commercial services over 5G networks using its equipment to start in the first quarter of 2019. Its products include mmWave and sub-6Ghz base stations, supporting the 5G New Radio (NR) air interfaces being standardised by the 3GPP.

ZTE continues revenue growth in Q3 at over 4%

ZTE reported operating revenue of CNY 71.564 billion for the first nine months of 2016, up 4.4 percent from a year earlier. While the company did not release Q3 figures, the result suggests business was in line with H1 2016, when revenues rose 4.05 percent. ZTE said revenue growth was primarily from 4G network and optical transmission products in the domestic and international markets, as well as its expansion in smartphones in China. Net profit amounted to CNY 2.859 billion, up 9.78 percent year-on-year.

ZTE wins 100G OTN contract from Reliance Communications

ZTE has signed a new 100G optical transportation network (OTN) contract with Reliance Communications India. Under the terms of the agreement, ZTE will provide 100G optical transportation network design, engineering, installation, and operations and maintenance services to Reliance Communications India in Pune and Hyderabad during the next three years.
