ZTE names new top management, Xu to become CEO

ZTE has named Xu Ziyang, president of its Telecom Cloud and Core Network product line, as its new CEO, replacing Zhao Xianming. Li Ying, a vice-president in the finance department, will take over the role of CFO, replacing Shao Weilin, while Gu Junying, a newly elected executive director on the new board, will head the company’s human resources department. 

The changes are part of a major management overhaul at the Chinese company agreed in an effort to regain favour with US authorities and end the ban on exports from the US to ZTE. The company earlier confirmed a new management board and chairman were elected.

The company is terminating employment contracts with much of its senior management, including executive vice presidents and senior vice presidents. In other executive appointments, Wang Xiyu will be ZTE’s new chief technology officer, Yang Jianming is the new supply chain chief, Xie Junshi is to head up operations management, Wang Xiang will lead strategy and investment, and Xu Feng is in charge of the terminal department.
