Alcatel in talks to sell enterprise unit to Unify - report
Alcatel-Lucent is in talks to sell its enterprise division to Unify, a joint venture between Siemens and Gores Group, and other potential buyers, three people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. Alcatel-Lucent's enterprise unit reported a EUR 12 million operating loss on EUR 764 million of revenue in 2012. It has reportedly also attracted interest from a non-US industrial company and from a Chinese investor, according to one of the sources. Second round bids are being prepared and a decision could be made before March. One of the people that spoke to Bloomberg said the unit could be worth up to EUR 250 million. Lazard is advising Alcatel-Lucent on the possible sale, which would allow the Franco-American company to focus on mobile phone network equipment. None of the companies mentioned would comment on the matter.
