
Alcatel-Lucent names Ben Verwaayen as CEO

Alcatel-Lucent's board of directors approved the appointment of Ben Verwaayen as the chief executive officer (CEO). At the same time, Philippe Camus is named as the company's non-executive Chairman as of 1 October. Verwaayen will also join the company's Board of Directors and was CEO of BT from February 2002 to 1 June of this year. Commenting on his appointment, Ben Verwaayen said that Alcatel-Lucent has a lot to offer: technological excellence, leading market positions worldwide, in developed as well as emerging countries and a strong customer focus. He also said that he is committed to building significant and sustainable value for our shareholders, customers and employees. Ben Verwaayen's office will be in the company's headquarters in Paris.
