Alcatel-Lucent reported that it no longer expects to achieve its adjusted operating margin guidance for the full year, which it had anticipated would be higher than the 3.9 percent recorded in 2011. The group attributed this to its year-to-date performance and the difficult macro-economic environment. For the second quarter, Alcatel-Lucent expects to make an adjusted operating loss of around EUR 40 million with revenues over EUR 3.5 billion. The group said the figures reflect good sequential sales growth with all geographies and divisions growing, but a slower than expected business mix improvement. Fixed costs were reduced by over EUR 100 million on the second quarter of 2011. It expects its second half to be better than the first.
